Side projects

Off the clock.

My brain’s happy place: daydreaming about all the ways the everyday things I use could work better. Here are a few I got to play with.

Salad in a Jar

An app for building a balanced salad in a jar, one layer at a time.

The idea

Pick a dressing, then toppings, greens, healthy fats, protein, and carbs. The jar fills as you go, and the nutrition adds up with it.

What I made

The concept, the illustrated ingredient library, and a clickable Figma prototype.

PAINTress Your Pain

Pain is hard to put into words, so this concept uses paintings instead.

The idea

Think of the last time you felt pain. Pick the painting that feels most like it, rate how intense it was, then see how 150 other people rated the same painting.

Where it could go

With enough responses, the paintings could become a shared visual vocabulary for pain, one a pain clinic could use alongside existing pain scales.

MentaMorph Money

A financial literacy game for young adults, turned from a 20-round spreadsheet game into a short, swipeable app onboarding.

The problem

Testers found the tutorial too long, and it never explained the money concepts behind the game.

What I did

As lead UI designer and UX researcher, I cut the tutorial from 20 rounds to 4, ended each with a quick knowledge check, and added optional pop-ups that explain each concept.

Result

Onboarding completion in usability testing went from 78.5% to 100% after one round of fixes.
